Scholarships
Scholarships ensure every Moravian student has access to the opportunities and resources they need to be successful; they are the main reason many of our students are able to afford to attend college. When you support scholarships, you empower our students to pursue their passions with confidence and help change their lives forever.
Of our undergraduate student population, 99% of our students receive some form of scholarship or grant aid from Moravian through the generous support of our donors. We work to connect our supporters with their scholarship recipient(s) so our donors can meet the students they are impacting. It is also very important to us that our students understand the intent and generosity of their donors. This mutual understanding plants the seed of philanthropy in our students to continue the circle of support.
Types of Scholarships
The Moravian Scholarship Fund (MSF) is our largest source of unrestricted financial aid and supports our academically qualified students to help make their education affordable. Your gift to the MSF is used in the following fiscal year to provide financial aid.
Annual giving scholarships provide an additional opportunity for donors to address students’ need for scholarship funds. For $12,500, a donor can establish an annual giving scholarship to provide general aid to help support deserving Moravian students. An annual giving scholarship is an immediate way for alumni and friends to help fund a Moravian student’s education.
Endowed scholarship funds directly impact countless students through generations. When you establish an endowed fund, your fund is a permanent, ongoing investment in the future of Moravian University and our students. Endowed funds are part of the Moravian's total endowment fund, and each fund is accounted for as a separate fund within the larger endowment.
- You may establish an unrestricted endowed scholarship fund with a minimum gift of $25,000. The fund can be established either through a single gift or with payments over two to five years.
- You may establish a restricted endowed scholarship fund with a minimum gift of $50,000, either through a single gift or with payments over two to five years. With a restricted fund, you may specify a preference for the type of student(s) who will benefit from the scholarship award (i.e., students with a particular major, from a specific geographic area, etc.).
- An endowed scholarship fund may be named for you, a member of your family, in memory/honor of an individual, and any other appropriate name (i.e., the Class of 1966 Scholarship Fund).
- Additional gifts to an endowed scholarship fund may be made by any person at any time.
- The student will be informed of the name of the donor who made the scholarship possible unless the donor wishes to remain anonymous.
- The donor will receive information on the student each year the scholarship is awarded.
