Moravian College and Salisbury High School Announce Dual Enrollment Program

Salisbury High School students can earn college credits with reduced tuition

BETHLEHEM, PA, April 16, 2019: Today, Moravian College announced that they’ve partnered with Salisbury High School in Allentown, PA to offer a dual enrollment program for high school students that will allow them to earn college credits at a significantly reduced tuition rate through courses offered at the high school.  In addition, several Salisbury High School courses have been approved for college credit as these courses provide the same rigor and expectations as those taught on Moravian’s campus.

“Dual enrollment is a great way for students to get a head start on college in a low-cost, convenient manner,” commented Carol Traupman-Carr, ’86, vice provost at Moravian College. “Nationwide, dual enrollment is beginning to overtake advanced placement (AP) as the preferred method to jump-start college. In the end, a student’s ability to gain credits through AP is dependent on a standardized test, whereas with dual enrollment, the student’s credit is based on their experience and performance in the entire course. We are thrilled to join with Salisbury High School for our first foray into this area.”

Salisbury High School is encouraging independent, responsible, and self-motivated learners to take advantage of this opportunity to get a head start on earning college credits.

“Moravian dual enrollment provides our high school learners with another powerful and economically feasible opportunity to pursue their path to college and career,” commented Randy Ziegenfuss, superintendent of the Salisbury Township School District. “Salisbury is excited for this new partnership with Moravian where our learners have the opportunity to experience college, explore career options, and earn college credit.”
