Accelerated BSN Program for College Graduates
The Helen S. Breidegam School of Nursing and Public Health is pleased to offer a 16-month-long accelerated bachelor’s of science in nursing degree for students who have previously earned bachelor’s degrees in non-nursing majors. This program features the same depth and breadth of nursing classroom, laboratory, and clinical coursework that students benefit from in the traditional pre-licensure baccalaureate (BSN) program, but offered over a 16-month period rather than four years. Coursework for the 16-month program commences on the third week of August in the first year of study and is finished on the third week of December in the second year of study. The expected learning objectives for graduates of this program are the same as for the traditional pre-licensure BSN program.
Program Requirements
Prospective applicants to this program must:
- Have an earned bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in a non-nursing major
- Have completed prerequisite coursework
- Have completed admissions requirements
- Have the means necessary to provide own transportation off-campus to participating clinical agencies several times weekly
- Meet Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing and participating clinical agency requirements to practice as a student nurse prior to beginning the program (e.g., no evidence of prior criminal activity on nationwide background checks)
- Be prepared to engage in full-time study for 16 months
Given the rigorous nature of this program, students are encouraged to not work during this 16-month timeframe. Students may be eligible for federal loans or other forms of loans or scholarships. Upon acceptance into the program, applicants may receive counseling from the Moravian University Financial Aid Office, upon request. Application fee waivers and discounted tuition rates do not apply to the Accelerated BSN Program in Nursing.
Students will enroll in this program in a “cohort model;” that is, they will take all of their coursework together, and not with traditional Moravian University students. This will give students in this program the opportunity to work together, form study groups, and socialize with each other during the limited break periods between academic sessions.
"The ABSN program at Moravian University has surpassed my expectations by providing me with skills and knowledge at an accelerated level while offering excellent resources and support throughout my journey."
Gissell Abreu "Cohort 10"
