Every day, every film, every project is different, so I am constantly learning and growing. I’ve been in film marketing for more than 20 years, and the landscape of both entertainment and media consumption is continuously evolving. I remember years ago when we stressed over having too many cable networks to buy, but now digital platforms have taken that to a whole new level. It’s hard to keep up, but that challenge of finding the next amazing opportunity or approach to marketing our films is what keeps me going.
Professionally, I’ve been fortunate enough to work on a lot of incredible films, but one of the most amazing moments of my career came 20 years ago when I worked on the marketing campaign for The Blair Witch Project. We were a small, young, scrappy marketing team at a small, young, scrappy studio, and building such a monumental campaign, which is still referenced today, is undoubtedly a top moment for me.
Personally, I’m incredibly proud of the amazing relationship that I have with my partner of 10 years. When I moved to LA, I not only started over with my career but also allowed myself to discover the true me. I came out within my first year here and hoped to find the guy who complemented me in every way. And I did.
I would not be where I am without the people for whom I’ve worked and, even more so, the people who have worked for me. Fostering a respectful work environment is priority one. A happy team works harder because they want to, and that’s how you deliver the best results.
I think I matured about 10 years during my four years at Moravian. Even though I was a local, from Allentown, I lived on campus, and that forced me into adulthood and helped mold me into the adventurous and dynamic person I am now. In high school I was terrified of college and the change that came with it. Within my first week at Moravian, I felt I instantly had a new family who was going to introduce me to a bigger world. And they did, and I’ve embraced it.
I love roller coasters. If I could have figured out a career based on riding them, I would have pursued it.
