Michelle Schmidt

Dr. Michelle E. Schmidt earned her BA from Drew University and her MA and PhD in applied developmental psychology from George Mason University. Dr. Schmidt’s publications examine precursors and consequences of attachment relationships and the protective benefits of high quality friendships across the lifespan, as well as service-learning and community-based research as effective pedagogies. Dr. Schmidt is the Faculty Ombudsperson for Moravian University, serves as the faculty advisor to Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology, and she is the faculty mentor to Moravian’s women’s basketball team. Outside of Moravian, Dr. Schmidt serves as the Chair of the Board of Directors for Communities in Schools of Eastern PA, and she is a board member for Lehigh Valley Summerbridge. Dr. Schmidt won the Lindback Award for Distinguished Teaching, the Breidegam Faculty Service Award, the Board Chair’s Award, and a Vice President’s Impact Award.
