SLPD FAQs
Is the program accredited?
Moravian University is accredited through the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
The Council for Academic Accreditation (CAA) is the accrediting body for entry-level degrees in speech-language pathology and audiology. In speech-language pathology, the Master’s degree is the entry level degree. Therefore, SLPD programs are not accredited by the CAA.
Is this program the same as a PhD?
No, the PhD is considered a terminal degree and research degree. The SLPD is a clinical doctorate that is not a terminal degree. The goal of the SLPD is to prepare individuals for advanced clinical practice, leadership, and collaboration in clinical research.
Can this program be completed part-time?
Yes, there is the option to enroll part-time. However, there may be limitations regarding the number of part-time students accepted per year to balance the course sizes. In addition, it is up to the student to determine the impact that part-time enrollment may have related to financial aid and degree progression.
Do you accept transfer credits?
Transfer of doctoral-level courses will be subject to an application/appeal for credit process as is University policy. University policy dictates that this may amount to no more than 25% of the program, and for each course for which there is an appeal for credit, a prior learning assessment must be completed. We will provide details about the prior learning assessment process, once we receive a formal request for the transfer of specific courses. Students may transfer no more than two research and dissemination focused courses and they may not transfer any credits towards the culminating project, SLP 930: Applied Research and Practice.
