How Moravian College Became Moravian University
The Pursuit of Excellence
In May, we received official notification from the Pennsylvania Department of Education approving our request to change our name to Moravian University. As we enter our 280th academic term, we are poised to continue to expand our master's and doctoral programs as we meet the needs of our society, and the new name reflects what Moravian has truly become—a university.
Amid the summer Olympics, we are also reminded of our own Moravian athletes who have made Olympic appearances: Christina Illum Scherwin '05, a two-time Olympic javelin thrower for her native Denmark, and Sedef Koktenturk '95, who competed in windsurfing for her home country of Turkey.
