Understanding the Meal Plan Structure & Use

All meal plans are semester based and are comprised of two components: Dining Dollars and Meal Swipes.

  • Meal Swipes can be used to gain entry into one of the all-you-can-eat options (Clewell & The Star).
  • Dining Dollars are a declining-balance account accepted in retail locations as payment. Dining Dollars are included in every meal plan and designed to give students flexibility when it comes to choosing meals. Dine most frequently in our Campus Restaurants, but supplement meals there with meals and snacks from Retail locations with Dining Dollars. Dining Dollars roll over from Fall to Spring Semester, but will then expire at the end of the academic year.

Students may check their balance at anytime online using their Moravian login.

Hound Bucks

Hound Bucks are part of a declining balance account independent of a meal plan. They are available online, at any time, so even if an individual does not have a meal plan, students, staff and faculty can grab some. When you purchase Hound Bucks online, you'll receive bonus dollars, free: 10% bonus when you add $20 - $199 Hound Bucks and 20% more when you buy more than $200 in Hound Bucks. Hound Bucks stay with you in your account until your balance is $0 or until you leave Moravian University (for any reason) - the dollars will be forfeited upon your departure.

To add more Hound Bucks visit: https://hps-webserver.moravian.edu/OneWeb/Account/LogOn.

More information is available on Dining's website.

Meal Plan Selection

Returning students will have the opportunity to select their meal plan for the upcoming year during the Spring Semester.

New residents will be defaulted to the Hound Unlimited plan and will have the opportunity to upgrade or change their meal plan after housing assignments are announced in early July.

In both instances, students will be emailed a link to the electronic form to select their meal plan.

Meal Plan Changes

Students have until the Drop/Add date to change their meal plan on AMOS.

Meal Plan Additions

Contact the Student Accounts office at (610) 625-7142, email, or visit their office in Colonial Hall to add a rechargeable option.

Meal Plan Appeals

  • A student and/or guardian who signs the Residence Hall Room Contract, is obligated to be a resident and participate in a College meal plan for the full academic year. Exceptions to these contractual obligations may be granted for extenuating medical, financial or religious and spiritual reasons. Students requesting an appeal should complete the Housing Status & Meal Plan Appeal Request Form.
  • For medical requests, contact the Accessibility Services Center.
